Our Community Programs bring officers and neighbors together through education, outreach, and engagement initiatives that promote safety, awareness, and collaboration. Police Athletic League (PAL) Plus

PAL Plus empowers DeKalb County youth through sports, academics, and mentorship, fostering positive police-youth connections and promoting a safe environment to reduce juvenile crime.

Our community outreach programs aim to build strong connections with the citizens and business owners we serve, offer skilled behavioral health crisis alternatives to arrest, and create innovative opportunities for DeKalb County children to engage with police officers in a positive, supportive environment.

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

  • Staffing precinct reception — handling phone calls, paperwork, and visitor inquiries
  • Providing general administrative assistance
  • Participating in approved ride-alongs
  • Assisting with special events and community project

Mobile Crisis Unit (MCU)

  • Officers partnered with licensed clinicians
  • Responds to behavioral health crises
  • Provides alternatives to incarceration


Community Policing Unit (CPU)

  • Builds partnerships with community organizations
  • Assists with and hosts community events
  • Bridges relationships between police and citizens

Citizens Academy (12-week program, August-November)
