Supporting Seniors and Families

The DeKalb County Office of Aging is committed to helping older adults live with dignity, independence, and purpose by providing access to essential services, resources, and supportive programs. Guided by our mission to enhance the quality of life for seniors and their caregivers, we proudly serve DeKalb’s growing and diverse aging community with care, respect, and a focus on long-term well-being.

  • Case Management: Personalized care planning, advocacy, and referrals
  • In-Home Services: Homemaker help, personal care, respite care
  • Home-Delivered Meals: Nutritious meals for homebound seniors
  • Congregate Meals: Hot lunches at four Neighborhood Senior Centers
  • Senior Center Transportation: Safe rides to/from senior centers
  • Quality of Life Trips: Social and enrichment outings
  • Health & Wellness: Workshops and activities for healthy aging

  • Respite Care: Support so caregivers can rest and recharge
  • Connection Café: Memory care activities, peer support, and education
  • Information & Referral: Guidance on resources, benefits, and community support

Q. What are the eligibility requirements to join a neighborhood senior center?

A. Members must be 60 years of age or older and a DeKalb County resident.

Q. Is there a charge for activities or services?

A. There is no membership fee. However, some classes may have a small fee for supplies.

Q. Is transportation provided to senior centers?

A. Yes. Transportation is provided to the senior center in the member’s community.

Q. What level of independence is expected from seniors who attend?

A. Members must be independent in ambulation and have no cognitive impairments (such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s).
