Temporary Summer Collection Schedule

Residential collection routes will begin at 6 a.m. starting July 13 through September 1. The temporary one-hour adjustment is part of a seasonal heat mitigation strategy designed to reduce employees’ exposure to high temperatures while maintaining reliable service to DeKalb County residents. Residents are asked to place garbage, recycling, and yard trimmings at the curb before 6 a.m. on their scheduled collection day during the temporary schedule change.

Collection Schedule Information

Collection Days

  • Garbage: Once weekly
  • Recycling: Once weekly (same day as garbage)
  • Curbside Yard Trimmings: Once weekly (same day as garbage)

Curbside Placement

  • Place Containers: After 7:00 PM the night before collection
  • Available Curbside by: 7:00 AM on collection day
  • Remove Containers: Within 24 hours after service
