Consent Decree
DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is committed to protecting public health, safeguarding local waterways, and maintaining a reliable sewer system for generations to come. As part of this work, the County is operating under a Clean Water Act consent decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
This consent decree outlines required programs, system upgrades, and reporting milestones designed to strengthen the County’s sanitary sewer collection and transmission systems. Many of these improvements are already underway and support long-term compliance with federal and state water quality laws.
