Super District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is proud to announce that the Final Four Tournament of the Police Athletic League (PAL) Basketball After Dark is underway. The Final Four games began June 25 and run through June 27. The week will conclude with a game Friday, June 28, at 10 p.m. between DeKalb County PAL youth participants playing against the Atlanta PAL. The final game will take place at South DeKalb YMCA, 2565 Snapfinger Road, Decatur.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs announces county pools and facilities will be open on a modified schedule from Aug. 6 through Sept. 4. The pools listed below will be open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, contact the DeKalb County aquatics office at (770) 414-2119.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host a Gateway to Fishing Program, Saturday, Aug. 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Park, 3985 LeHigh Blvd., Decatur, Ga. The event will take place at the fishing pond.

This Saturday, July 29, 2023, Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be hosting a clean-up workday at the Arabia Mountain Vineyard to help DeKalb County's first wine grape vineyard. Arabia Mountain Vineyard, located in Stonecrest, GA, is family-owned and is the only wine-grape vineyard in the metro Atlanta area. It covers over 18-acres and is a premier tourist destination for residents in the state and across the U.S.

DeKalb County Public Library is delighted to announce that the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners has approved the architectural and engineering (A&E) services contract for the replacement of Brookhaven Library. After a competitive bidding process, Cas Architecture emerged as the highest scoring proposer. The firm was chosen based on its expertise and experience designing innovative, modern libraries in Georgia.
