Ridgewood Drive NE, between Emory Drive NE and Vickers Drive, will be closed to through-traffic 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, August 3 to Thursday, August 17 to facilitate the replacement of a storm drain pipe at 1754 Ridgewood Drive NE, Atlanta, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

Lauren Parkway, between Memorial Drive and N. Hairston Road, will be closed to through-traffic 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 11 to facilitate road drilling to access a distribution line for 5935 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

On Saturday, Aug. 5, District 5 Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson will sponsor an End-of-Summer Health, Wellness, and Back-to-School Community event for DeKalb County families. There will also resources for families available for those looking for employment opportunities and other services.

On Saturday, July 29, Commissioner Steve Bradshaw, in partnership with Clarkston Mayor Beverly Burks and Dr. Joyce Morley, DeKalb School District Board member, Pastor Karl D. Moore and First Lady Angela Moore will host the 3rd Annual Back-to-School event with giveaways, health screenings, vaccinations, and more. The event will be at Clarkston First Baptist Church, 3999 Church Street, Clarkston, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Commissioner Robert Patrick, representing DeKalb County's District 1 and serving as the presiding officer, reaffirms his dedication to empowering local students by allocating $10,000 of District 1 funds to support the Tucker-based nonprofit, Omega Support for its eagerly anticipated annual Back-to-School Celebration.
