The DeKalb County Police Department is hosting a free Community Outreach and Safety Fair on Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Big Lots parking lot, 3358 Chamblee Tucker Road, Tucker. During the event, residents will receive free goodies as well as access to many useful resources listed on next page.  We will also be hosting games and playing music for the community to enjoy.

Commissioner Bradshaw, in collaboration with Atlanta VA HealthCare System, AMVETS Post 44, JenCare Senior Medical Center, Georgia Grace, and DeKalb County’s Human Services, and Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs departments will provide onsite resources and information about housing, VA benefits, caregiver support, trauma recovery, employment and training, mental health, telehealth and women’s wellness programs and community based stakeholders.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, the Path Foundation and Mercer University will hold a second public meeting to discuss the system of trails at Mercer University Wednesday, September 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Mercer Administration and Conference Center, 2930 Flowers Rd. South, Atlanta, Ga. The meeting will take place on the second floor in the auditorium.

The department is looking for men and women who wish to serve the residents of DeKalb County. Candidates will have the opportunity to complete the hiring process and potentially walk away with a conditional offer of employment with a start date of November 13, 2023. Our starting salary for certified officers is up to $62,164 with a $5,000 sign-on bonus and up to $57,750 for non-certified individuals with a $3,000 sign-on bonus.
