The sub-committee of the Dekalb County Charter Review Commission that was formed for the purpose of reviewing and discussing the structure of commission districts will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a Parks Citizen Advisory Board Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 26 at 6 p.m. at the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Headquarters, 1950 West Exchange Place, Tucker, GA 30084. Commissioner Larry Johnson, in partnership with STAND Inc. Executive Director Charles Sperling, is hosting the fourth annual National Opioid Summit. With a focus on continued education, proactive solutions and increasing advocacy to help with what may be America’s worst drug crisis, community stakeholders, youth, policymakers, and citizens are invited to attend the Opioid Summit. The summit will be held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center, located at 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30034, Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Sept. 18, with the launch of the Scott Boulevard Phase III Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 19,650 linear feet of aging pipelines. The line repair project is expected to last approximately nine months (September 2023 to June 2024), barring any weather delays.
