Milscott Drive, between DeKalb Industrial Way and Church Street, will be closed to through-traffic beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6 through Wednesday, Jan. 15. Local traffic will detour to Church Street. The closure is part of the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase II.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) crews are onsite to access and repair a water main break at the 4500 block of Glenwood Road. DWM crews are on the scene directing traffic. Please avoid the area, if possible, by using Covington Highway. Customers in the area may experience low to no water pressure during the repair.

DeKalb County Government is partnering with local faith leaders and community groups to distribute 5,000 boxes of Georgia-grown fruits, vegetables and chicken hindquarters on Saturday, Nov. 4. “Food insecurity is a countywide issue, and our faith leaders and community partners are helping us provide relief to struggling families throughout DeKalb,” DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said. Additionally, residents will receive cookies, fruit juice boxes and cereal.

Due to forecasted cold weather, DeKalb County will open three warming centers for residents on Tues. – Thurs., Oct. 31 – Nov. 2, starting at 8 p.m. each night to use. Anyone staying in the warming centers must follow the county’s COVID-19 protocols that include wearing a mask, social distancing and undergoing a temperature check.
