Crews will work to repair 300 feet of broken sewer main parallel to Peavine Creek, near Harvard and Emory Roads. The repair will be performed using a cured-in-place pipe replacement, which will require minimal excavation. This work is expected to begin Dec. 6, 2023, and will be completed by Jan. 11, 2024, weather permitting. SAK Construction, working on behalf of DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM), will perform the repair.

On Nov. 14, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners announced the establishment of the DeKalb County Eviction Legal Defense Fund. This initiative is set to provide critical legal assistance to residents of DeKalb County facing eviction, significantly bolstering housing stability and promoting legal equity.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continues with the design of Shoal Creek Trunk Sewer Improvement Project. The county will host the second Public Information Open House event about this project. Both of these events will present the same information.

As of 4:30 p.m., all protestors had left Gresham Park and the Constitution Road area. There were no arrests made today related to the protests on Constitution Road. During the protest, protestors deployed smoke bombs. When DeKalb Police performed a check of the protest area Constitution Road after protestors left, they found three bags of metal grinders and smoke bombs. In a separate incident, DeKalb Police arrested one person at 11:50 a.m. in the parking lot of a grocery store at 2532 Bouldcrest Road for giving false name and date of birth and obstruction of an officer.

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and DeKalb Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Frankie L. Atwater announce the 2nd Annual Spirit of DeKalb Awards Gala set for Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter Ravinia. The Gala will kick off at 6 p.m. with a VIP reception and silent auction, followed by the awards show at 7 p.m., honoring the achievements of outstanding DeKalb County residents, businesses, civic leaders and nonprofits.
