DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson announces the unveiling and ribbon-cutting of the all-new Bruce Street basketball court at Bruce Street Park, 2566 Bruce Street, Lithonia, Ga. 30058 on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 12:30 pm. Earlier this year, Commissioner Davis Johnson announced that improvements to the basketball court would include resurfacing, restriping and custom artwork designed by Atlanta-based nonprofit, Art In the Paint.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host his 16th annual tree lighting event, Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Porter Sanford, III Performing Arts and Community Center. The Annual Tree Lighting is a time for the community to come together to reflect and unite as it prepares for the holiday season.

The DeKalb County Charter Review Commission is charged with providing a comprehensive review of the Organizational Act of DeKalb County (“Charter”) to ensure that County government is representative of all citizens of DeKalb County, responsive to the needs and demands of the citizens, and providing the best delivery of services to the citizens of DeKalb County. Over the course of its work the Charter Review Commission has developed edits to the Organizational Act and is asking for your thoughts on these changes at a public hearing on Wednesday, December 6, at 6:00 p.m.

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host a virtual “Radon Webinar” on Dec. 14, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m. and Jan. 24, 2024, from 6 to 7 p.m. Webinar attendees will receive a free radon in air test kit. Many Georgians spend these cold months huddled inside waiting for a warmer spring. This makes it even more important that we test our homes for radon, a colorless, odorless gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023. The Board of Trustees will be joined by DeKalb Library Foundation for this meeting. The meeting will be held at DeKalb County Public Library Darro C. Willey-Administrative Center, 3560 Kensington Road, Decatur, GA 30032. The meeting will also be live-streamed.
