DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are currently onsite to repair a leaking water main on Memorial Drive near the intersection of Rockbridge Road. Some customers in the area may lose water service during the repair. DeKalb Watershed Management crews have blocked two westbound lanes on Memorial Drive.

Today, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond announced the county’s Equalized Homestead Option Sales Tax (EHOST) credit for 2024 will provide $162 million in property tax relief for property owners with homestead exemptions. Qualified homeowners receive an EHOST credit that reduces or offsets property tax liability. The amount of property tax relief received by a qualified homeowner is based on the assessed value of the homesteaded property and sales tax revenue generated by EHOST.

Approximately 20 acres of I-20 and I-85 interchanges, including Chamblee Tucker and Flat Shoals Roads, have or will receive multimillion dollar facelifts. These interchanges and roadways are among the most highly traveled highways in DeKalb County. The Gateway Beautification Project is designed to increase community pride, attract new business investments and reduce crime.

DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) has concluded initial unofficial and incomplete tabulations of the June 18 Primary Election Runoff contest. The runoff election included contests for State Senate – District 55, Chief Executive Officer, County Commissioner District 4, State Court Judge Division A-3 and Board of Education – District 5. Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) ballots must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21. Any provisional ballots will also be factored into the final certified results.

A detour will be in effect for Tucker Industrial Road beginning Monday, June 24, through Monday, Sept. 9, as crews replace aging sewer lines. Night work will take place June 24-27 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. near the intersection of Tucker Industrial Road and Elmdale Drive. Day work will resume on June 28. Normal construction hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.
