The DeKalb County Long Range Planning Division invites the McNair neighborhood to its inaugural "Community 101" public meeting on Thursday, July 18, at 6:00 p.m. at the N.H. Scott Recreation Center, 2230 Tilson Rd, Decatur. The “Community 101” program provides training under the DeKalb Community Academy to residents in unincorporated DeKalb, equipping them with knowledge about available services offered by the DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department.

Beginning Tuesday, July 2, through Friday, July 19, , Bobbie Lane will be closed to through traffic Monday – Friday to replace sewer lines, which are a part of the Cobb Creek Sewer Improvement Project. During this closure, there will be detour signs in place to direct traffic around the closed off portion of the road. The road closure will be intermittent during the week, and the road will be open on the weekend.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department will host a Movies in the Park series every Wednesday in July at various locations across the county at dusk and with each movie starting at 8:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring family and friends, blankets, lawn chairs and food for each showing. All featured movies will be PG-13 and rated viewable for all ages to enjoy.

In response to National Weather Service forecasts of heat indices exceeding 100 degrees, DeKalb County is opening cooling centers Friday, June 28, through Monday, July 1. For a list of available cooling centers, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather. DeKalb County recreation centers and libraries will be available as cooling centers during the locations’ normal business hours. Water fountains will be accessible at recreation centers and libraries.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews have completed repairs to leaking water main on Memorial Drive near the intersection of Rockbridge Road. Water service has been restored to the area. As service is restored, customers in the affected area may experience brown water and are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing.
