Midway Road Partial Closure Begins on June 17

A portion of Midway Road, between South Candler Street and Oldfield Road, will be closed beginning Monday, June 17, for approximately five days, barring any weather delays. Crews will require a partial road closure to continue repairs on the sewer line. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving safely around the closed off portion of the road. Our construction crews will work diligently to minimize the length of impact to motorists.
DeKalb Announces Proposed Property Tax Increase

The DeKalb County Governing Authority, today, announces its intention to increase 2024 property taxes this year by 11.08 percent over the rollback millage rate. DeKalb County has six separate tax levies. Two of those levies (the general and hospital funds) are used in the required calculation for the rollback rate. The other tax levies (police, fire, designated, and the special tax district bond fund), when combined with the general and hospital levies, produce the same benchmark millage rate of 20.810 mills from last year.

DeKalb County CEO Michael L. Thurmond and The Board of Commissioners will host a Juneteenth Concert featuring El Debarge, with a performance by BRICK featuring Jimmy Brown on Saturday, June 15 beginning at 6 p.m. at Rainbow Park Amphitheater, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, Ga. To ensure the safety of event attendees, weapons (guns, knives, pepper spray, tasers, etc.) and pets that are not service animals, are prohibited.
DeKalb Crews Repairing Broken Water Main on Jordan Terrace

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are currently making repairs to a broken 8-inch-diameter water main on Jordan Terrace near Woodacres Road. More updates will be provided as available.
DeKalb to Give Away 5,000 Boxes of Food in Recognition of Father’s Day

DeKalb County Government will celebrate Father’s Day 2024 with its monthly food distribution partnering with local faith leaders to distribute 5,000 boxes of fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and protein on Saturday, June 15. “We are celebrating and honoring all fathers and father figures who have loved and supported their families,” said DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond.
