Due to anticipated inclement winter weather, all DeKalb County government offices, buildings, and County-sponsored programming will be closed and canceled beginning Saturday, January 24, through Monday, January 26. During this period, all DeKalb County employees should not report to County facilities and are instructed to work virtually, unless otherwise directed by their department leadership. This action is being taken to prioritize employee safety while ensuring continuity of essential County operations.

In anticipation of severe winter weather expected to impact the region, DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has declared a State of Emergency, activating a coordinated, countywide response focused on public safety, preparedness, and rapid response. The State of Emergency allows DeKalb County to mobilize resources, coordinate closely with emergency partners, and respond swiftly as weather conditions evolve. County departments are actively monitoring forecasts and preparing for potential impacts, including hazardous road conditions, power outages, and service disruptions.

DECATUR, Ga. – Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will activate warming centers beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26, 2026.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Feb. 2, with the launch of the West College Avenue Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 11,300 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe between South Candler Street and Emeril Drive.

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continue with Phase II of the Peachtree Boulevard Water Transmission Main Replacement Project.
