DECATUR, Ga. – Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will activate warming centers beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, continuing through Sunday, February 8, 2026, releasing individuals at 10:00 a.m.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA - Notice is hereby given that the SPLOST II Resident Review Committee will hold a Special Called Orientation Meeting on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at 178 Sams Street, Decatur, GA 30030 (Multipurpose Room A1201).

An incident occurred earlier today at the Decatur Library, the main branch of DeKalb County Public Library, located at 215 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA 30030. According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to the library at approximately 5:10 p.m. on February 2 following reports of a shooting. Officers located an adult male inside the library suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews have completed repairs to a 12” broken water main near the intersection of Covington Highway and Wellborn Road. Water pressure has been fully restored and there are currently no reported water outages. Customers in the affected area may experience brown water and are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing.
