Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Feb. 2, with the launch of the West College Avenue Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 11,300 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe between South Candler Street and Emeril Drive.

DECATUR, Ga. – Due to forecasted freezing temperatures and hazardous wind chills, DeKalb County will activate warming centers beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, Saturday, January 17, continuing through Monday, January 19, 2026.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Feb. 2, with the launch of the Grant Drive Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 6,600 linear feet of aging pipelines. The line repair project is expected to last approximately seven months (February to August 2026), barring any weather delays.

The DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department is updating its zoning ordinance for the first time in a decade and its sign ordinance for the first time in 20 years to ensure that the ordinances support the needs and desires of the community. This update aims to align the Zoning Ordinance more closely with the 2050 Unified Plan and existing development patterns so that it better reflects the values and priorities of DeKalb’s residents and businesses.
