DeKalb County Voter Registration & Elections (DeKalb VRE) is preparing to administer the upcoming Georgia House District 94 Special Election. The special election provides eligible voters in House District 94 the opportunity to cast their ballot for state legislative representation. Election Day for the special election is Tuesday, March 10, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. DeKalb VRE encourages voters to review important election dates, confirm their registration status, and make a plan to vote—whether by absentee ballot, early voting, or on Election Day.

DeKalb County urges residents to use caution when traveling and spending time outdoors in the coming days as winter weather is expected to impact the region. Snow and dangerously cold winds are anticipated late Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday morning. Below-zero wind chills are expected across much of north Georgia including DeKalb County Saturday night and Sunday morning.

DeKalb County Public Library will host more than 20 programs for Black History Month. Events will take place at several library branches throughout February. The 2026 schedule includes historical presentations, exhibits, crafts, films and more. "We're excited to bring such a wide range of programs to our branches this year," said Alison Weissinger, director of DeKalb County Public Library. "This lineup provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to gather and explore stories of leadership and creativity."

DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has announced the appointment of Robert L. Gordon as Director of Public Works, effective immediately. Mr. Gordon brings more than four decades of progressive leadership experience in public works and fleet management to this role. He most recently served as Deputy Director of Fleet Management for DeKalb County, where he led countywide fleet procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle management operations, oversaw budget development and financial planning, and directed daily operations supporting critical public safety and infrastructure services.
