DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). A Finance Committee Meeting will be held at 4 p.m. To listen in on the meeting, please request the call-in number and PIN from weissingera@dekalblibrary.org no later than noon on the date of the meeting.

The DeKalb County Human Services Department will mark Older Americans Month this May with a variety of virtual programs, classes and entertainment. Older Americans’ Month, a national celebration sponsored by the U. S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Administration on Community Living, commemorates the achievements and contributions of individuals 55 years and older within their communities.

DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host “May Gardening” virtual classes for free. The “Herb Gardening" class will be on May 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. The “Invasive Species" class will be on May 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. The “Things that Bug Me Inside and Outside the home" class will be on May 25, from 6 to 7 p.m.

This summer, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and the Board of Commissioners are hosting the 2021 DeKalb Virtual Career Academy (DVCA), the county’s fifth annual summer jobs program, run by WorkSource DeKalb. “The COVID-19 pandemic continues to make it difficult for DeKalb County youth to find summer jobs and internships,” said CEO Thurmond. “Again, this year, DeKalb County will fill this training and financial gap by offering our summer jobs program as a virtual career academy.”

The Urban Redevelopment Agency of DeKalb County will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, Immediately following the Bard of Commissioners' 9:00 a.m. meeting.
