DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) encourages voters to plan ahead and obtain a voter identification card from the DeKalb County VRE office. There is no cost for obtaining the ID card, and it is specifically intended for voters who do not have a valid (unexpired) state-issued driver’s license or ID card.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson will host a virtual Public Safety Town Hall on April 27, 2021, at 6 p.m. The Annual Public Safety Town Hall will not be held in its traditional form this year, due to the pandemic. However, Commissioner Johnson is committed to ensuring that constituents continue to have meaningful ways to stay connected and engaged.

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will offer free residential bulky item curbside collection from Friday, May 7, through Saturday, May 29. Residents within the Sanitation Division’s service area will have an opportunity to place bulky items, including furniture and appliances, curbside for collection. Servicing will occur once per household, and collection schedules are based on residents’ designated sanitation service day.

Starting Monday, April 19, 2021, DeKalb County Public Library will begin offering one-hour appointments available for computer use. Prior to entry, each patron must submit to a temperature screening and proper face coverings will be required. The number of available computers will vary by size of branch and the ability to maintain social distancing between terminals.

During an April 6 DeKalb County Board of Commissioners meeting, District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson unveiled a comprehensive plan for the development of a $1.4 million state-of-the-art youth farm. The Education, Market, Botanicals, Agriculture, and Recreational Center (E.M.B.A.R.C.) Community Youth Farm will be located in Lithonia at the former 50-acre Bransby Outdoor YMCA at Rock Chapel site.
