DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with DeKalb’s Roads and Drainage Division and the Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library, has successfully installed two StoryWalks® and a story scavenger hunt located in the Mason Mill Park, 1346 McConnell Drive, Decatur, GA, 30033.

DeKalb residents will have the opportunity to receive COVID-19 vaccinations, one 20-pound box of Georgia-grown fruit and vegetables, one dozen eggs and a 10-pound package of chicken hindquarters without exiting their vehicles on, Saturday, June 5. Beginning at 8 a.m., DeKalb County Board of Health medical professionals and DeKalb Fire Rescue paramedics and EMTs will administer voluntary COVID-19 vaccinations to residents 12 years of age and older.

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (BRE) meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). Simultaneous public access to the meeting will be available via livestream on DCTV’s UStream channel https://video.ibm.com/channel/dctv-channel-23.

Registration is now open for the second annual DeKalb County Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) Plus Unit Virtual Summer Academy. The free program, created for youth ages 5-14, will run June 7 to July 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The program is hosted by the P.A.L. Unit and will include a variety of virtual experiences including P.A.L. fitness, cheerleading, virtual Gaming with a Cop, a talent show and more.

As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) begin to relax mask policies for outdoors and those who have been vaccinated, DeKalb County Commissioner Robert Patrick is reminding residents that precautions still need to be taken. Although the number of COVID-19 cases are on the decline, there are hot spots in several zip codes in and around District 1.
