DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson in partnership with Soldiers’ Angels and Atlanta Food Bank is hosting a mobile food distribution event to provide food assistance to 200 at-risk and homeless veterans and their families. The distribution will take place Friday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Atlanta VA Arcadia Clinic, 250 North Arcadia Avenue, Decatur, Ga. 30030, and will be one of three events scheduled for June, August and December to benefit veterans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). Simultaneous public access to the meeting will be available via livestream on DCTV’s UStream channel https://video.ibm.com/channel/dctv-channel-23.

Due to the county’s observance of Independence Day on Monday, July 5, garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection for residential customers will run one day late. The North Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 5, resuming normal operating hours on Tuesday, July 6. The Customer Care call center, Central Transfer Station and Seminole Road Landfill will be closed on Monday, July 5, reopening on Tuesday, July 6, during normal operating hours.
