In partnership with the DeKalb County Police Department, the DeKalb County Police Athletic League is hosting its Inaugural PAL Pumpkin 5k Run/Walk on October 22, 2022, at 4 p.m. On race day, there will be activities for the whole family. Registration for the race is $35.

DeKalb County Commissioner Steve Bradshaw was recognized Sept. 9 for his allocations totaling $100,000 to the Wade Walker YMCA, which named a food pantry in his honor. “I am a strong supporter of the work of the YMCAs in our communities,” Commissioner Bradshaw said. “That is why I allocated funds to both the Wade Walker YMCA in Stone Mountain and the Decatur YMCA. The naming of the food pantry in my honor is not anything that I sought or expected. Therefore, I am deeply humbled and honored by this recognition.”

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (DeKalb BRE) confirmed the location of 16 advance voting locations and changes to one Election Day polling site, during its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 8. Advance voting in DeKalb begins Oct. 17 and concludes Nov. 4; weekdays 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Sundays, noon – 5 p.m. Two advance voting sites; Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur and Clarkston Library will open on Oct. 29 until Nov. 4. Election day is Nov. 8.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold its Parks Citizen Advisory Board Committee meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Tobie Grant Recreation Center, 593 Parkdale Drive, Scottdale, Ga. Information will be provided on current park improvements and recreation projects. The meeting will take place in the multipurpose room and conducted via zoom at https://dekalbcountyga.zoom.us/j/89284857581.

DeKalb County’s Departments of Planning & Sustainability and Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with DHL Express, is excited to announce GoGreen. This participatory event is free and aspires to raise awareness and appreciation of sustainability within our communities. Various partners engaged in environmental / conservation work shall also be in attendance to share an overview of their organization and programs.
