Commissioner Steve Bradshaw encourages the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Tobie Grant Recreational Center tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at 593 Parksdale Drive and Tobie Grant Lane in Scottdale. The new center is named after Tobie Kendall Grant (1887-1968) who was a renowned African American community leader, spiritual advisor, businesswoman and philanthropist in Scottdale.

Today, Sept. 1, DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be speaking at the BE Safe America Safety Summit & Think Tank, sponsored by Safe America Foundation. Having recently joined Safe America Foundation as an advocate, Commissioner Cochran-Johnson will support the organization’s new “TV PSAs” initiative as an on-air national correspondent to raise awareness concerning human trafficking, as well as assist in saving lives in the Ukraine and abroad.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) crews are onsite assessing a water main break along Ashford-Dunwoody Road near Interstate 285. Motorists should expect delays in the area and avoid this area if possible. Crews are assessing the break to determine the repairs needed and estimated time to complete the repair.
