On Friday, Commissioner Davis Johnson extended her acknowledgments of the 109th birthday celebration of DeKalb County’s oldest citizen, Ms. Relda Beatrice Bennett Mackins, who was born on August 7, 1913. Ms. Mackins will be honored by her Pastor, Rev. Vandy Simmons and her church, Antioch AME Church, 765 South Hairston Road, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30088 during the Sunday morning worship experience at 10 a.m.

Super District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host an informational town hall to help DeKalb County residents gain a better understanding of the millage rate, as well as how their annual property tax liability is assessed. The DeKalb County Property Tax & Millage Rate Town Hall will occur Thursday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m. and will take place virtually on Zoom.

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County will continue on Thursday, Aug. 18, with the launch of the North Shore Road Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 11,200 linear feet of crumbling water lines with new 8-inch-diameter, ductile-iron water lines along North Shore Road. This line repair project is expected to last approximately 4 months (August 2022 to December 2022), barring any weather delays.
