On Aug. 29, a portion of Briarlake Road, between Briarcliff Road and Briarlake Trace Northeast, will be closed from Aug. 29 to Dec. 31, 2022, (barring any weather days), while crews work to upgrade the sewer line and several manhole structures. The construction work requires a full road closure at the intersection of Briarcliff Road Northeast (400 feet) to Briarlake Trace, NE. The manhole located on Briarcliff Road adjacent to intersection requires a one-lane closure between intersecting streets of Circlewood Road and Echo Drive.

The DeKalb County Roads and Drainage Floodplain Management Office offers residents general floodplain management information on flood hazards, planning, prevention, and mitigation free of charge. This is part of activities under the Community Rating System Program (CRS) of the county.

District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a special town hall to address the state of housing in DeKalb County and the current initiatives taking place on the local and state level to provide permanent housing solutions. The DeKalb County Housing Crisis Solutions Town Hall will occur this Thursday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. and will take place virtually on Zoom.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, in his role as the District 3 Commissioner and immediate past president of the National Association of Counties, participated as a guest speaker during the White House Initiative Latino Economic Summit hosted by the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics (White House Hispanic Initiative) and the Aspen Institute.

DeKalb County Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has allocated a second round of funding in the amount of $60,000 of District 4 reserve for appropriation funds for DeKalb County Accountability Courts, including Drug Court, DeKalb County Felony Mental Health Court, DeKalb County Veterans Treatment Court, and DUI Accountability Courts.
