DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly installed18-hole disc golf course at DeKalb Memorial Park on Saturday, November 12, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at DeKalb Memorial Park, 381 Wilkerson Drive, Atlanta, GA 30317.

The DeKalb County Charter Review Commission will be holding a public hearing and in-person meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the DeKalb School Board’s Robert R. Freeman Administrative Complex located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, GA. Social distancing will be observed. Free parking is available at the site. The hearing will also be broadcast on DCTV’s UStream channel.

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor the Inaugural Spirit of DeKalb Awards Gala on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia (4355 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30346) in celebration of DeKalb County’s 200th anniversary.

DeKalb County Police Department announced today that the deadline for applications to the DeKalb County Police Department’s second Youth Academy is Fri., Oct. 28. This is an opportunity for DeKalb County youth ages 14-17 to learn how their police department works.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continues on Monday, Oct. 31, with the launch of the Cobbs Creek Sewer Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 6,449 linear feet of sewer pipe and replace existing manholes. Phase 1 of the sewer replacement project is expected to last approximately 14 months (October 2022 to December 2023), barring any weather delays.
