DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw will host his second Quarterly in the Fourth community breakfast meeting for 2024 on Saturday, April 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. at East Central DeKalb Community and Senior Center located 4875 Elam Road, Stone Mountain. “I am pleased to have DeKalb County Public Safety Director Jack Lumpkin Sr. as the guest speaker at this Saturday’s second Q4 breakfast to discuss public safety operations and service delivery,” Commissioner Bradshaw said.

In February, DeKalb County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved $3.8 million in the 2024 budget to add 15 EMT/paramedics, five nurse practitioners, and five ambulances to enhance countywide service delivery. The county is in the process of installing a $5 million, state-of-the-art E-911 phone system. Fitch & Associates, a nationally known leader in EMS and Ambulance system consulting, is completing an objective review of DeKalb County’s EMS system.

DeKalb County Human Services Department, through its Office of Youth Services, will hold a Community Health Fair scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clarkson Community Center. This event is part of the county's ongoing commitment to enhancing public health and ensuring all community members access critical health services. To promote continued vigilance against COVID-19, the event will also feature a $100 gift card for families who receive the COVID-19 vaccine during the fair.

Commissioner Steve Bradshaw and the Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation April 23 recognizing DeKalb County as dementia-friendly. DeKalb County will open its first Memory Cafés this summer at East Central DeKalb Community and Senior Center at 4885 Elam Road, Stone Mountain. Memory Cafés are designed to welcome individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease or any other form of dementia, or other brain disorders. Memory Cafés also include the care partner for a shared experience. Additionally, Memory Cafés are helpful for people with all forms of mild cognitive impairment.
