A portion of East College Avenue, between Brown Place and Locust Street, will require a lane shift from March 21 to April 4. Crews will continue construction activities associated with the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving safely through the lane closure. Our construction crews will work diligently to minimize the length of impact to motorists.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a Spring Break Camp April 1 - 5, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The cost of the camp is $10 per day for children ages 5-12. Each participant must provide his or her own breakfast, lunch and snack. To register, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/parks and click the “Register Online” button. On March 18, the Board of Registration and Elections (BRE) certified the results of the March 12, 2024, Presidential Preference Primary (PPP).  During the PPP Election, more than 56,358 registered DeKalb County voters exercised their right to vote. The BRE also unanimously voted to fill County Commission District 3 and Super Commission District 7 seats through a special election to be held on Nov. 5, 2024. Qualifying for the special election will be held April 1 through April 5.

Efforts to improve service capacity throughout DeKalb County will continue with the launch of the Cobb Fowler South Trunk Sewer Upsizing Project. Crews will upsize approximately 3.3 miles of sewer lines. This project is expected to last approximately 36 months (spring 2025 to summer 2028), barring any weather delays. Normal construction hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.

DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond announces the promotion of Andrew Cauthen to chief communications officer. Cauthen, who will serve as the county chief communications officer, has been with the county since 2016, most recently serving as communications manager. An award-winning journalist with extensive experience covering local and state government in South Carolina and Georgia, Cauthen has more than 20 years of journalism and communications experience.
