The DeKalb-Peachtree Airport Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at 2000 Airport Rd., Room 227, Atlanta, Ga. 30341. The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30032.

On Tuesday, April 2, the DeKalb Industrial Way lane closure will be extended from Lawrenceville Highway to Coalter Way. As a result, Irvin Way will be closed, which will require a detour to North Decatur Road or Coalter Way and Winn Way. This lane closure and detour are necessary as crews make progress in replacing the 30-inch Ductile Iron Pipe water main that is part of the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase II.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs to host a senior swimming program at East Central DeKalb Community and Senior Center, 4885 Elam Road, Stone Mountain, Ga. from April 9 – May 2. The registration fee is $60 per participant and will include eight lessons. The program will be for beginner swimmers ages 55 and up. Patrons will learn pool safety and the skills needed to make swimming a lifelong pursuit for healthy living. Registration will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 35th Annual DeKalb County Senior Olympic Games will be held for ages 50 and older, May 6 – May 17. The kickoff for the games will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 6 at Exchange Intergenerational Recreation Center, 2771 Columbia Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30034. Registration is now open. The Olympic-style sports festival will include free-throw basketball, bowling, track and field, billiards, swimming, table tennis, line dancing, water volleyball and more. Events will be held at various venues across the county.
