DeKalb County has purchased 5,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to be distributed Saturday, March 30, during its monthly food distribution. “DeKalb County is continuing the fight against food insecurity and investing in and empowering young girls,” said DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond. The funding from the county’s purchase of the Girl Scout cookies will provide additional financial support for programs designed to promote academic success, leadership, financial literacy, and more.

Irvin Way between DeKalb Industrial Way and Winn Way, will be closed to through-traffic 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 8 to Sunday, July 28 to facilitate the installation of a new water line at 2721 Irvin Way, Decatur, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

Convair Lane between Celia Way and Midway Road, will be closed to through-traffic Monday, April 1 to Friday, April 5 to facilitate the replacement of a sanitary sewer line on Convair Lane. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions. A portion of East College Avenue, between Brown Place and Locust Street, will require a lane shift from March 21 to April 4. Crews will continue construction activities associated with the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving safely through the lane closure. Our construction crews will work diligently to minimize the length of impact to motorists.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a Spring Break Camp April 1 - 5, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The cost of the camp is $10 per day for children ages 5-12.
