Livingstone Place, between East College Avenue and Craigie Avenue, will be closed to through-traffic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday - Friday, September 30 through October 14, to facilitate a watermain replacement at 718 Livingstone Pl. Decatur, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

Carter Road, between S Columbia Drive and Midway Road, will be closed to through-traffic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 30 through Wednesday, October 30, to facilitate a watermain replacement at 1218 Carter Road, Decatur, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

Abingdon Drive, between Hargett Court and Abingdon Court, will be closed to through-traffic from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, September 23 to facilitate mainline Cured-in-Place-Pipe (CIPP) work at 4357 Abingdon Drive, Stone Mountain, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

On Sept. 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson will host a countywide Voter Registration Call to Action at the Lou Walker Senior Center, in honor of National Voter Registration Day. The event is organized by the Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., in partnership with Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson and several local Get Out the Vote partners. This initiative seeks to prepare DeKalb County citizens for the upcoming 2024 election, equipping voters with essential information on how to make their voices heard.

The Office of Commissioner Michelle Long Spears is excited to announce the first-ever Youth Civic Engagement Town Hall, hosted by Troop 18 of Scouting America. This event will provide a platform for youth across the community to meet local leaders and learn about civic engagement in a welcoming, non-partisan environment. "Empowering young people to engage in civic matters is key to building a stronger, more inclusive future,” said Commissioner Michelle Long Spears.
