DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are currently making repairs to a broken water main on Clairmont Terrace near Clairmont Road. A contractor replacing and repairing fire hydrants in this area caused a break to a service line. Customers in the area are experiencing low to no water service due to the damaged water line. More updates will be provided as available.

In response to National Weather Service forecasts of heat indices exceeding 100 degrees, DeKalb County is opening cooling centers Thursday, Aug. 29. For a list of available cooling centers, visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather. DeKalb County recreation centers and libraries will be available as cooling centers during their normal business hours. Water fountains will be accessible at these locations.

Commissioner Robert Patrick is excited to announce two incredible community events happening on Sunday, September 1, 2024. These events are designed to bring the community together for a day of fitness, fun, and support for important local causes. The inaugural District 1 Labor Day 5K Fur Run will kick off the day at Mercer University, followed by Labor Day Live! at Pleasantdale Park in the afternoon.

DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) will host its logic and accuracy testing on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, beginning at 9 a.m., to test equipment being used for the upcoming General Election. The testing and equipment storage will be conducted at the DeKalb VRE office located at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, GA 30032-1239.

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections (BRE) meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be held in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Ga. 30032. Public comments may be made in person or submitted by sending an email of one printed page or less at a minimum font of 12 to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov which must be received between 35 and five minutes before the scheduled start of the meeting. The body of the email must include the citizen’s first and last name.
