The DeKalb County Police Department is hosting a free Community Outreach & Safety Fair on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Big Lots parking lot, located at 3358 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, Ga. 30341. During the event, residents will receive free goodies as well as access to many useful resources. There will also be hosting games and playing music for the community to enjoy.

To ensure ample community participation, the DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs will reschedule the fourth virtual public meeting to discuss the trail system at Mercer University to Wednesday, October 2, at 6 p.m. The community is invited to attend and view the results of the trail study. DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews have completed repairs to a broken water main on Perimeter Center West near Hammond Drive. A private contractor installing fiber optics bore through a water main in the area, causing the break. As service is restored, customers in the affected area may experience brown water and are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing.

DeKalb County District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw will host his Annual Veterans Expo and Fellowship Lunch event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Tobie Grant Recreational Center, 593 Parkdale Drive, Scottdale, GA 30079. Commissioner Bradshaw, in collaboration with Atlanta VA HealthCare System, AMVETS Post 44, Georgia Grace and Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Departments, will provide onsite resources and information about housing, VA benefits, caregivers, trauma recovery, employment and training, mental health, telehealth and women’s wellness programs.
