DeKalb County will give a $100 prepaid debit card to everyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccination on Saturday, Dec. 4. “DeKalb County’s focus of providing $100 incentives for vaccinations is having a major impact on increasing the county’s vaccination rates,” said DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond. “Because of our partnership with DeKalb County Board of Health and Emory University and Emory Healthcare, DeKalb has improved the vaccination rates in communities that are experiencing high rates of vaccine hesitancy.”

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at noon. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). Simultaneous public access to the meeting will be available via livestream on DCTV’s UStream channel at https://video.ibm.com/channel/dctv-channel-23.

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 6 at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). DeKalb County voters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with their voting options as the Nov. 30 General/Special Municipal Election runoff approaches. “It’s important for voters to cast their ballots during every election, and we’re anticipating a smooth runoff election,” said Twyla Hart, interim director of DeKalb VRE. “Voters should make a plan to vote in person if they did not take advantage of early voting options.”

The Department of Watershed Management has initiated a project to assess the condition and proper operation of water valves and fire hydrants countywide. The DeKalb County Water Valve and Fire Hydrant Inspection and Exercising Project will include the inspection and exercising of approximately 55,000 water valves and 20,000 fire hydrants to assess the condition and functionality of the DeKalb County water distribution system.
