The Superior Court Clerks’ Association awarded Debra DeBerry, Clerk of Superior Court, DeKalb County with the prestigious ÈCLAT Award on February 22, 2022.  Barry Wilkes, former Clerk of Court in Liberty County and for whom the award is named, presented the honor to DeBerry at the Winter Conference held in Atlanta.  Wilkes stated that the decision was unanimous.

DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting on Monday, March 7, at 4:30 p.m. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom). DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has introduced a resolution to the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners to adopt a comprehensive master trail development plan. “Trails and greenspaces are an integral part of DeKalb’s future,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson.

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson is sponsoring an ordinance that would require convenience stores and high-risk businesses to own and operate a video surveillance system. “As a commissioner, I am tasked with protecting the health, welfare and safety of DeKalb’s residents and visitors,” said Commissioner Cochran-Johnson.

Commissioner Larry Johnson was honored by the Greater Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce (GGBCC) with the inaugural Lou and Theresa Walker’s Legacy Award. Commissioner Johnson received the award during the GGBCC’s “History of Black Businesses: Past, Present, Potential and Potency” epic event.
