DeKalb County Cooperative Extension will host “December Gardening” virtual classes for free. The “Care of Holiday Plants" class will be on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. The “Collecting & Submitting Soil & Water Samples” classes will be held on Dec. 9 at noon and Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.

Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will partner with the DeKalb County School District and the DeKalb County 100 Black Men to host the 3rd Annual Lock-in for Life, a program designed to promote healthy relationships among middle and high school teen males. The four-hour event will be held Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Redan High School, 5247 Redan Rd, Stone Mountain, Ga. 30088.

DeKalb County will give a $100 prepaid debit card to everyone who receives a COVID-19 vaccination on Saturday, Dec. 4. “DeKalb County’s focus of providing $100 incentives for vaccinations is having a major impact on increasing the county’s vaccination rates,” said DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond. “Because of our partnership with DeKalb County Board of Health and Emory University and Emory Healthcare, DeKalb has improved the vaccination rates in communities that are experiencing high rates of vaccine hesitancy.”

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at noon. This meeting will be conducted via teleconference (Zoom).
