DeKalb County Government is being recognized as a recipient of the 2022 Good Trouble Honor for its “Get Vaxxed” COVID-19 vaccination efforts. The Innovation in Government honor, awarded by the Center for Civic Innovation, recognizes “a local government agency, elected official, or civil servant who has broken through the status quo to lead a policy, program, project, or partnership to make our government more effective, equitable, responsive, and/or participatory.”

Grady Health System and DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will host a special town hall to address violence in our community. The virtual Violence Prevention Town Hall will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 6 p.m., and will feature experts in violence prevention who will offer an in-depth discussion regarding community-based programs that prevent, interrupt and reduce violence, as well as expand opportunity and decrease recidivism.

Registered voters in DeKalb County looking to cast an absentee ballot for the Tuesday, May 24, 2022, primary election are encouraged to begin the process now by visiting www.dekalbvotes.com. The application is the first step in obtaining an absentee ballot and voters who plan to vote absentee are highly encouraged to apply right away.

Advance voting for the primary will take place May 2 through May 20, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday advance voting days are May 7 and May 14 with available hours from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday advance voting days are May 8 and May 15 with available hours from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
