On Thursday, March 31st, the Presiding Officer of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners Robert Patrick will host a community meeting at Pleasantdale Elementary. As the District 1 County representative, Commissioner Robert Patrick believes good neighborhoods are predicated on well-maintained infrastructures, parks, trails, and proper planning for future growth.

Due to staffing challenges within its residential collection team, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division is currently experiencing recycling and yard trimmings collection delays in the north service area. The Sanitation Division’s north service area includes the section of Atlanta in DeKalb County, Tucker, Dunwoody, Brookhaven and Doraville.

DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha V. Ramos will host a virtual women’s roundtable at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, on the department’s Facebook page and DCTV. During the “Candid Conversation with Women in Policing” event, Chief Ramos and other female officers of all ranks will discuss policing from a woman’s perspective.

Inflation and the rising cost of goods and services are creating financial hardships for many DeKalb County residents. As a result, basic needs such as rent, food and utilities are going unmet. To alleviate some of these burdens, Commissioner Robert Patrick is offering water bill assistance for residents of District 1 through St. Vincent de Paul’s utility program.

Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continues on Monday, March 28, with the launch of the Buford Highway Emergency Sewer Line Replacement Project. Crews will replace 60 linear feet of failing sewer line with new 8-inch ductile-iron pipe near 3700 Buford Highway. This line repair project is expected to last approximately two weeks, from March 28 to April 8), barring any weather delays.
