“The Sky is the Limit” will be the theme of DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond’s State of the County address on April 27 in the Atlantic Aviation corporate hangar at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. CEO Thurmond’s outlook for 2022 and beyond will focus on DeKalb County’s ongoing efforts to respond to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic while investing in critical infrastructure that supports economic growth and prosperity.

Walker Road, between King Road and South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road, will be closed to through-traffic from 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 21, for CSX rail replacements, cross tie replacements and resurfacing project in Stone Mountain, GA 30088.

The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners accepted a grant of $25,880 from the Georgia. Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. DeKalb County Fire Rescue (DCFR) will use these funds for pedestrian safety education and pedestrians and drivers’ education on the risks associated with pedestrian injuries and fatalities.

On Earth Day, Friday, April 22, DeKalb County Super District Commissioners Ted Terry and Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will join Roots Down for a special, commemorative celebration to encourage a greener, more environmentally friendly DeKalb. Roots Down works with local governments, universities, and organizers to shift the paradigm of landscapes, create greener jobs, fight climate change and feed others.
