DeKalb County Government is partnering with local faith leaders to distribute 5,000 boxes of produce and chicken on Saturday, Oct. 8. DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond and the Board of Commissioners are extending a special invitation to DeKalb residents who are hosting Hurricane Ian evacuees.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a Fall Break Camp Oct. 7th and 10th, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost of camp is $10 for a day of activities for children ages 5-15. DeKalb County Commissioner Steve Bradshaw has allocated $45,000 of District 4 reserve funds for DeKalb County’s Lifeline Animal Shelter. The funding will be used to pay the adoption fees for all animals currently in the shelter. “Lifesaving is truly a community-wide effort, and we are grateful for the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners' leadership in encouraging adoptions and making them accessible to everyone,” said Kerry Moyers-Horton, DeKalb County Animal Services shelter director.
