Following a special-called meeting on October 10, the DeKalb BRE took additional measures to secure poll worker data in connection with Konnech Inc. PollChief. The emergency meeting had been convened following the arrest of Eugene Yu, the CEO of Konnech by the Los Angeles County District Attorney and allegations that L.A. County poll workers’ data had been stored on a server in China, in violation of their contract with Konnech.

This year marks the 200th Anniversary of DeKalb County, GA and to commemorate the occasion, Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson will be hosting the DeKalb County District 7 Bicentennial Celebration & Glass Orb Quest on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve (3787 Klondike Road, Stonecrest, GA 30038).

Commissioner Johnson was asked by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to address the housing issues in DeKalb County. As the Chair of the Planning, Economic Development & Community Services Committee (PECS), Commissioner Johnson has held special called PECS meetings and brought together, federal, state, and local leaders to collaborate, share insight and create a framework from experts as DeKalb continues to tackle the housing crisis.

Today, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved CEO Michael Thurmond’s proposal for a $20 million plan designed to enhance emergency services at Emory Hillandale Hospital and to support nursing services at Grady Hospital. “Today’s vote by the Board of Commissioners will save lives and strengthen the healthcare safety net for tens of thousands of residents in DeKalb County and metro Atlanta,” said CEO Thurmond.

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and DeKalb County, Georgia, recently participated in a transit exploration trip to San Diego where they experienced first-hand the city’s transit system and met with key decision makers to gain insight on how to successfully deliver high-capacity transit (HCT) to South DeKalb.
