The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will host its seventh annual Father-Daughter Dance at Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, Ga, on June 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Registration will be open now until June 9.

The DeKalb Human Services Department’s Office of Youth Services is accepting applications for its 2023 Sights N’ Sounds Program, designed to provide DeKalb high school students with exposure to the film, art, music production and recording industries. The program, which will offer workshops and hands-on experiences to encourage youth to pursue careers in the entertainment field, will be held in partnership with the DeKalb Entertainment Commission and Plug ATL, a local studio production company.

In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 29, garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection for residential customers will run one day late. The North Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 29. The Customer Care call center, Central Transfer Station and Seminole Road Landfill will be closed on Monday, May 29, reopening on Tuesday, May 30, during normal operating hours.
