DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews repaired a broken 12-inch-diameter water main on Vermack Road at approximately 12:15 p.m. Water pressure is currently being restored. As service is restored, customers in the affected area may experience brown water and are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing.

The closure of Livingstone Place, between East College Avenue and Craigie Avenue, will be extended through Nov. 30. Crews will continue construction activities associated with the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase III. Motorists should expect delays stemming from the road closure. Precautionary signs and traffic flaggers will assist in moving local traffic safely around the road closure.

Craigie Avenue, between Brown Place and Haven Lane, will be closed to through-traffic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Friday, October 30 through November 30 to facilitate a watermain replacement at 2803 Craigie Avenue, Decatur, Ga. Road closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the road closure period advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions.

DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs’ youth basketball and cheerleading program registration is now open until Oct. 31. County youth ages 5 to 17 are invited to sign up for instructional or division basketball. The registration fee for the instructional league ages 5 to 6 is $35, $75 for ages 7 to 17 and will include one uniform. Cheerleading registration is $65 for ages 5 to 14 and will include one uniform and additional fees. The basketball and cheerleading programs begin Dec. 14. Practice dates and times for basketball and cheerleading programs will be determined by the recreation center.
