In anticipation of inclement weather and dangerous road conditions, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division has suspended all administrative operations, residential and commercial services, and transfer station and landfill operations for Friday, Jan. 10. Commercial customers will be serviced on Saturday, Jan. 11, weather permitting.

Due to forecasted cold weather, DeKalb County has opened the following four warming centers for residents 24 hours a day beginning at 8 p.m. until further notice. However, DeKalb County’s overnight only warming center, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, 3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee, will be closed until Monday, January 13. There will be a final pick-up tonight, Jan. 9, at the regularly scheduled time.

As a result of the pending inclement weather, DeKalb County offices, senior centers, libraries, recreation centers, the Sanitation Division’s customer service desk and the Planning Department’s One Stop Shop will be closed Friday, Jan. 10. Public safety and other county employees who are required to maintain critical operations during the inclement weather event should check with their supervisors for instructions.

DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are currently repairing a 6” broken water main at 5100 Covington Highway. Residents and businesses may be experiencing low to no water service due to the damaged water line. Traffic controls are set up in the area near the repair site and motorists are asked to use caution in the area, avoid the area if possible and expect delays. More updates will be provided as available.
