DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews have completed repairs to a broken water main at 427 West Ponce de Leon Avenue. As service is restored, customers in the affected area may experience brown water and are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing. DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management crews are currently onsite to repair a broken water main at 427 West Ponce de Leon Avenue. The following streets may be impacted: Fairview Avenue, Wilton Drive,  Northern Avenue, Ponce De Leon and Wilson Drive. Some customers in the area may be experiencing low to no water pressure while repairs are being made.

Due to forecasted cold weather, DeKalb County has opened the following four warming centers for residents 24 hours a day beginning at 8 p.m. until Sun., Jan. 26, at 8 a.m. DeKalb County’s overnight only warming center, North DeKalb Senior/Community Center, 3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee, will open Thursday, Jan. 23, at 8 p.m. Special transportation will be provided each morning to one of the 24-hour warming center locations.

DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson has announced that the State of Emergency will remain in place through tonight and into tomorrow, as severe winter weather continues to create hazardous conditions across the region. Residents are strongly urged to shelter in place and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Freezing temperatures, icy roads, and challenging conditions remain a threat to public safety. For those who must travel, extreme caution is advised. Residents should avoid low-lying areas, bridges, and other locations prone to freezing.

As a result of the pending inclement weather, DeKalb County offices, senior centers, libraries, recreation centers, the Sanitation Division’s customer service desk and the Planning Department’s One Stop Shop will be closed Thursday, Jan. 23. Public safety and other county employees who are required to maintain critical operations during the inclement weather event should check with their supervisors for instructions.
