On Dec. 20, 2022, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed comprehensive text amendments to the DeKalb Zoning Ordinance to set distance requirements with the intent to diminish crime and mitigate negative outcomes linked to small box discount retail stores (SBDRS) within DeKalb communities.

DeKalb County will open the following warming centers for residents to use on Thursday, Jan. 26, and Friday, Jan. 27, beginning at 8 p.m. Anyone staying in the warming centers must follow the county’s COVID-19 protocols that include wearing a mask, social distancing and undergoing a temperature check.

The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections meeting for the purpose of conducting its normal monthly business will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at 1 p.m. This is an in-person meeting, to be held at the DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections office located at 4380 Memorial Drive, #300, in Decatur. This meeting was originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The DeKalb County Police Department will be increasing visibility and patrols in neighborhoods near Intrenchment Creek. These include neighborhoods in the vicinity of Fayetteville Road, Key Road and Constitution Road. The DeKalb County Police Department prioritizes the safety of our community.
