The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold a third community meeting on Thursday, February 23, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Pleasantdale Elementary School, 3680 Northlake Drive, Doraville, GA. The meeting will take place in the cafeteria. The community is invited to attend the meeting and provide input regarding the master plan and upcoming improvements for Pleasantdale Park.

The Long-range Planning Division of the DeKalb County Planning and Sustainability Department and the Transportation Division of DeKalb’s Public Works Department teamed up to develop the DeKalb County 2050 Unified Plan. The plan, adopted by the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners in November 2022, is the first combined plan document supported by the Atlanta Regional Commission. The plan is the result of a joint pilot project to redefine how future long-range plans are developed for municipalities in metropolitan Atlanta.

DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated playground at DeKalb Memorial Park, 381 Wilkinson Dr. SE, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. A total of $167,142 was allocated to complete the playground improvements. Contributions were provided in part through Park Pride’s Community Building Grant, supported by The Home Depot Foundation, Commissioner Larry Johnson, Commissioner Ted Terry, Community Development and the Parks Department to complete the project.
