The Zoning Division administers DeKalb County’s zoning ordinance, overlay districts, and land use regulations.
We assist residents, businesses, and developers with rezoning, variances, Special Land Use Permits (SLUP), and zoning certifications, and support the public hearing process for related applications.
Rezoning
Change the zoning classification of a property.
Major Modification Application
Zoning Board of Appeals - (ZBA) Variance
Special Land Use Permit (SLUP)
Allows specific uses subject to additional review.
Overlay districts apply additional standards to guide development, preserve character, or support community goals.
Examples may include:
- Design requirements
- Streetscape standards
- Use restrictions
Overlay standards supplement base zoning.
