Celebrate Park and Recreation Month This July!
This July, DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs proudly celebrates Park and Recreation Month, joining communities nationwide in recognizing The Power Of parks, recreation, and the people who make them possible.
Parks and recreation play a vital role in enhancing our quality of life by promoting health and wellness, protecting natural spaces, fostering community connections, and providing opportunities for learning, creativity, and fun. Whether you're enjoying a walk on one of our trails, cooling off at a pool, participating in a fitness or arts program, or attending a community event, you're experiencing the power of parks and recreation firsthand.
We invite you to celebrate with us all month long by exploring DeKalb County's parks, facilities, and programs. Discover new activities, connect with your community, and experience The Power Of Parks and Recreation.
Together, we're creating healthier people, stronger communities, and a brighter future—one park, one program, and one experience at a time.
The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs invites residents, artists, arts organizations, cultural leaders and community stakeholders to participate in the upcoming Arts DeKalb Community Meetings, designed to gather public input and help shape the future of arts and culture throughout DeKalb County.
As DeKalb County officially launches Arts DeKalb, a new initiative dedicated to celebrating creativity, supporting local artists and expanding cultural opportunities, community members are encouraged to share their ideas, experiences and vision for the future of the arts.

The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will partner with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and the Happy Helping Program to provide meals that service youths ages 18 and under during the summer. The program will run June 8 – July 17.
The Department is encouraging agencies to apply now to participate as a distribution site.
To qualify as a site, 50 percent of children served must meet the income guidelines for free and reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are members of households that receive food stamp benefits or Aid for Dependent Children (AFDC) assistance automatically qualify. Funding for the Summer Food Service Program is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and targets children up to age 18.
Please see a list of current summer food sites.
