Efforts to improve water service capacity throughout DeKalb County continue on Tuesday, April 22 with the launch of the Rosewood Road Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 16,900 linear feet of water lines with new 8-inch and 12-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP). This project is expected to last twelve months (April 2025 to March 2026), barring any weather delays.

Today, DeKalb County hosted it’s “Spring Forward” Beautification and Code Compliance Town Hall. DeKalb County’s goal is to strengthen community pride, promote clean environments, and encourage community engagement to keep DeKalb beautiful. Today’s event was a lunch-and-learn about the County’s efforts in maintaining a clean and healthy environment and promoting a better quality of life for residents and visitors. The event focused on connection and education, providing tools and resources to participants to empower them in making a meaningful impact in their communities and neighborhoods.

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, April 21, with the launch of the 2nd and 3rd Avenue Sewer Improvement Project in Decatur. Normal construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. This sewer improvement project is expected to last approximately nine months (April 2025 to January 2026), barring any weather delays.

DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson announces $4 million in federal aid funds issued by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for two DeKalb County transportation projects. In the Spring of 2024, ARC conducted a solicitation for proposals for the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Federal funding from the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG) was slated to be awarded to projects that would further ARC’s regional goal of strategic investments and addressing transportation needs in the region. Two DeKalb County projects were awarded out of a pool of more than 100 applicants.
